Each year, Congress appropriates funds for use by the Administration for Community Living (ACL) to support community living through a variety of programs.

ACL, in turn, provides the funding to states and local governments, community organizations, colleges and universities, and other organizations who conduct research or provide services and supports for older adults and people with disabilities. Individuals are not eligible to apply for ACL funding.

For those new to the ACL grants, the Funding Opportunities section of the ACL website provides a brief profile of the types of grant instruments ACL uses to fund programs, the procedures applicants must follow in applying for these grants, and the reporting required of recipients.
